The superintendent of Troy City Schools is Lee Alan Hicks. Raised in Geneva, Alabama, he is a 1990 graduate of Geneva High School. Prior to his arrival in Troy, Alabama, he served in the capacity of Principal for Prattville High School starting in 2005 in the Autauga County School System in Prattville, Alabama. He has worked for public schools in Alabama since 2001, having previously served as an Assistant Principal at Prattville High School, as well as a coach and teacher at Prattville High School, and as an elementary school teacher in Muscogee County, Georgia. Before entering into the education profession Dr. Hicks served our great nation as a member of the United States Marine Corps and he worked as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Troy University.
He received the Alabama Association of Foreign Language Teachers Outstanding Administrator of the Year Award, the Alabama Attorney General Safe Schools Initiative Award of Excellence for Prattville High School consecutively for four years and the Prattville Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award. He has served on numerous strategic planning, curriculum, foundation, and mentoring task force /leadership panels. Dr. Hicks earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Auburn University, a Master of Education degree in Physical Education from Troy University, a 5th Year Instructional Leadership and Administration Certificate from Troy University and completed his Doctorate degree from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln in Educational Leadership and Higher Education.
He is married to the former Shay Driver of Montgomery and they have two children, Barton, who is 15 and Mary Britton who is 13. He and his family are members of First United Methodist Church of Troy and the children attend Troy City Schools. He maintains an open door policy and believes success relies on teamwork.
